Statistics Portugal has the privilege and honour of having the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, granted to the 11^th European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics (Q2024). This event is co-organised by the Statistics Portugal and Eurostat and will take place from 4 to 7 June, 2024 (Estoril, Portugal).

The conference motto is "the role of official statistics as a pillar of democracy" and this event also embodies the strategic aim of projecting Portugal at a technical and scientific level among its European peers and its Portuguese-speaking partners from the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP).

The Q2024 was thus recognised as "promoting, encouraging, and mobilising the country and its citizens to address the challenges and opportunities that Portugal is faced with", in this case, regarding official statistics, perceived as an essential democratic foundation for informed decision-making.

This recognition confers an added responsibility to the organisation, which remains committed to promoting the value of official statistics and their quality in national, European, and global contexts.
